The Vital Work of Prayer: Youth for Christ Calls UK Churches to Intercede for Young People This Easter

Youth for Christ is calling UK churches to become prayer warriors for young people this Easter — drawing on 75 years of evidence that prayer is the foundation of effective youth ministry and the most powerful catalyst for breakthrough.

Analysis

Youth for Christ has been making Jesus known to young people in Britain for 75 years. And after seven decades of youth work, evangelism, and community mission, they have reached a clear conclusion: the most powerful breakthroughs in youth ministry are linked to prayer.

As Easter 2026 approaches, YFC is issuing a call to UK churches to intercede for the young people in their communities — not as a pious afterthought, but as the primary act of mission. The article draws on the examples of George Müller and Susanna Wesley, whose intercessory prayer shaped lives and nations, and on Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 12:24–25, which honour the unseen parts of the body — including those who pray.

The statistics about young people and faith in the UK are genuinely encouraging: Bible sales surged 134% in 2025, 64% of Gen Z identify as spiritual, and 54% of the population now identify as Christian. Something is stirring. YFC believes that sustained, committed prayer is both the cause and the catalyst of this spiritual awakening.

This Easter, will your church commit to praying specifically for the young people in your neighbourhood — by name, by school, by street?
