Altitude Mission

Altituder & Mini Altituder (Gap Year Role)

Altitude Mission · Charity

Voluntary

BECOME AN ALTITUDER Applications for the 2026/27 Altituder team will be opening soon, and we’d love you to consider stepping into a season of mission in the mountains. An Altituder spends the winter living in Chalet Altitude in Méribel, part of a community of young Christians who love Jesus and love skiing. Together we reach seasonal workers, locals and visitors with the life-changing love of Jesus. This isn’t just a ski season. It’s a season of mission, discipleship and deep community. Throughout the winter you’ll build friendships across the resort, serve in the life of the chalet, take part in outreach events, and join our Ski Angels teams helping keep people safe on the mountain. Your days at Altitude Mission follow a natural rhythm. Mornings begin with Bible reading, prayer and breakfast together. During the day you’ll often be out skiing, meeting seasonnaires, sharing faith conversations on chairlifts, or serving the community around the resort. Afternoons regularly involve Ski Angels shifts, where trained teams head to the main après-ski spots to help skiers get home safely. Sometimes that means helping someone find their skis or carrying equipment up the slope. Occasionally it means responding to more serious situations where first aid is needed. Evenings centre around shared meals in the chalet, worship, prayer, community events and time spent with friends across the resort. Every Wednesday we host Beer & Burgers, welcoming around 200 seasonnaires into the chalet for food, friendship and conversation. Sundays include our church service in the small mountain chapel, where Altituders help run the service and are encouraged to explore their gifts in worship, preaching, welcome or tech. Alongside outreach and community life, there are regular seminars and teaching sessions designed to help you grow in your faith and leadership. MISSION CONTRIBUTION The Altituder programme requires a financial contribution to help cover the cost of living and serving in Méribel for the winter season. Full Season Altituder (November – April) £9,000 mission contribution This contribution covers: - Accommodation in Chalet Altitude - Food and shared living costs - Discipleship teaching and mentoring - Ski Angels training and equipment - Participation in all Altitude Mission outreach and ministry While £9,000 covers the mission contribution, the actual cost of having an Altituder in resort is closer to £15,000 for the season. Thanks to the generosity of supporters and past alumni, Altitude Mission is able to subsidise the remainder so that more people can step into this experience of mission and discipleship. Many Altituders also raise support from churches, family and friends to help fund their season. MINI-ALTITUDER (4–6 WEEK MISSION EXPERIENCE) Not ready for a full season? You can still be part of what God is doing in Méribel. Coming to Altitude Mission for four to six weeks is an immersive and deeply formative experience. You step away from everyday routines and into a focused season of growth, living in close community, serving with purpose, and being challenged to go deeper in your faith. It’s a space to learn, reflect and be equipped while building meaningful relationships and gaining clarity, confidence and direction for what God may be calling you into next. MINI-ALTITUDER CONTRIBUTION 4 Week Short-Term Mission £3,200 6 Week Short-Term Mission (January – April) £4,800 6 Week Short-Term Mission starting in December (Christmas Period) £5,495

Mount Zion Baptist Church, Cardigan

Bookshop Manager

Mount Zion Baptist Church, Cardigan · Church

VoluntaryHybrid

Bookshop Manager - Volunteer/Support-Raising Position Cardigan, Wales Flexible hours starting at 16 hours p/w Hybrid : shop and home based Teifi Christian Books are looking for a manager to support the operation of our Christian Bookshop. What we do: Teifi Christian Books is in the centre of the bustling market town of Cardigan on the West Wales coast. A rural town with many farming and coastal communities in the surrounding area, Cardigan has schools, leisure facilities, businesses, a busy high street and seven churches/chapels. There is a large influx of visitors over the summer months. Teifi Christian Books was opened by a local Christian couple in the 1990s. They established the shop with the help of volunteers from the local churches of Cardigan. When they moved away from the area in the early 2000s their vision was carried forward by another couple with the support of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Today it forms part of the ministry of Mount Zion (www.cardigan.church) and continues to be managed and staffed by a team of volunteers. The shop serves the local community and visitors to the area through the supply of Christian books, cards and gifts. However, the shop is about much more than this. Over the years it has developed a significant pastoral and evangelistic ministry, with the volunteers who serve in it seeking to share the love of Christ with everyone who comes through the door. To keep this ministry growing and moving forward, the church and the volunteer team at the bookshop believe that now is the right time to find an individual to develop and direct the ministry of the shop as bookshop manager. The role involves: 1. Working with the church leaders and the bookshop volunteer team to formulate and enact a plan for the development of the bookshop. 2. Overseeing the work of the volunteers, including recruitment, training and scheduling. 3. Assisting customers with Christian books and products. 4. Managing, purchasing and recording stock. 5. Overseeing maintenance of the shop with the help of the church leaders. 6. Promoting the shop to local churches and in the town and region. 7. Helping to direct the financial operations of the bookshop with the assistance of qualified volunteers. What we are looking for: 1. A heart for service and a commitment to the Christian faith 2. Good communication and listening skills 3. Basic digital literacy 4. Willingness to learn and grow in a supportive team This is a volunteer position and no pension rights accrue. While we are not in a position to offer a waged position at this time, we would encourage our bookshop manager, should they wish to do so, to raise support to fund their role. To discuss this position or to apply please send a letter of interest to Andrew Cunningham - [email protected].

The Pilsdon Community

Community Member

The Pilsdon Community · Charity

Full-time

Alongside the Warden, Community Members take responsibility for the over all running, organisation and ethos of Pilsdon. They are members of the intentional Christian community at the spiritual heart of Pilsdon. At any one time there maybe up to 7 community members and the team is made up of people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience, which includes individuals, married couples and families. As well as the day to day jobs of cooking, looking after livestock, leading prayers, washing and cleaning – where members take equal part to others living at Pilsdon – Community Members also look after key areas such as health and safety, the gardens, the vehicles and applications process, to name just a few. Underpinning this work is an ethos of ‘living alongside and serving one another’. One important implication of this is that Members all share the same house rules as Guests and Visitors in terms of Pilsdon being a dry house. The concept of ‘living alongside’ removes Members from the conventional workplace: boundaries between ‘off duty’ and ‘on duty’ are often blurred and a six day working week operates, which means days tend to be long. Living in community can often be emotionally and physically challenging and Members need to be comfortable working within this context, as well as having a good level of self-awareness and to be able to take responsibility for planning their own leisure and rest periods. The selection process for a potential new Member involves coming to visit Pilsdon, a written application and personal statement, references and an interview.
