One Thousand Days of War: Christian Aid Joins Call for UK Action on Sudan
As Sudan's civil war reaches its 1,000th day, Christian Aid has joined 12 other leading humanitarian organisations to urge the UK Government to act. Almost 34 million people are in urgent need — making Sudan the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.

Analysis
One thousand days. That is how long Sudan's devastating civil war has been tearing apart communities, displacing families, and pushing millions to the brink of starvation.
Christian Aid has joined twelve other leading humanitarian organisations in a powerful joint statement urging the UK Government to act now. The scale of the crisis is almost incomprehensible: 34 million people in urgent need of humanitarian help, 11 million children facing crisis or worse levels of hunger, and 770,000 children at risk of dying from severe acute malnutrition.
Sudan is now the largest humanitarian crisis in the world — yet it has received a fraction of the international attention given to other conflicts.
The coalition of organisations is calling on the UK Government to push for an immediate ceasefire, scale up diplomatic efforts, and ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. A petition will be handed to Downing Street on 15 April 2026, marking the grim milestone with a clear demand for action.
For UK Christians, this is a moment to pray, to give, and to speak up. The voices of faith communities carry weight in the corridors of power. Sudan's people — made in the image of God, loved by the same Father — deserve our urgent attention and our loudest advocacy.
