Mothers' Union Takes Women's Rights to the United Nations
Mothers' Union representatives attended the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York, calling for action on online harassment and the impact of conflict on women and girls.

Analysis
Mothers' Union has held special consultative status at the United Nations since 2000 — and in March 2026, its representatives were in New York for the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW70).
The theme for this year's commission was "Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, and safety for women, especially in public life." Mothers' Union submitted a joint statement alongside the National Alliance of Women's Organisations, Widows Rights International, and HelpAge International, calling for urgent action on two fronts: the epidemic of online harassment (women in Europe are 27 times more likely to be harassed online than men), and the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls.
Mothers' Union's presence at the UN is a reminder that Christian advocacy for women's rights is not a peripheral concern but a central expression of the faith. For 150 years, the organisation has been putting faith into action — strengthening families, equipping women with skills, building economic resilience, and nurturing spiritual and practical wellbeing globally. The work at the UN is the same work, on a different stage.
